I ordered Carne Asada and Camarones on my first visit last week to Tonala's. My husband and I have been missing the international variety and quality of the food available in New York for the past five years until I tasted Tonala's food. One bite of that perfectly marinated and charbroiled skirt steak and I almost cried--it was that good. I couldn't get any better in New York than that. I was shocked to see that they actually gave it to me cooked medium rare--just like I asked! On a steak of that thickness, it can be very tricky to not overcook it, but they did an amazing job. The prawns were also 'bangin' as the flavor of bacon just elevated them that much. Everything's better with bacon! It came with rice, refried beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, and four tortillas. I ordered corn tortillas and was not disappointed! Tonala's gave me so much food there was no way I could finish it all. I had the leftovers for dinner and It was still incredible even after heating it up at home. ALL so fresh and delicious, I begged my husband to bring me back again three or four times this week. (He didn't. Blast!) I know where I'll be going for Mexican from here on out. BTW.... As I type this, I'm waiting for my husband to get here from Tonala's with my take-out order. (Finally! Yay!!) One guess what the meal is! lol Just can't stop thinking about it and drooling! Come to Tonala's for lunch, dinner or whenever. I promise you, you will not be sorry! This is THE place!

Shrimp were overcooked and small. 7 of them. Had them remade and bacon was almost uncooked. I think they started using smaller shrimp so its causing them to overcook before the bacon can cook. Have had this dish before done right. Upon the new order they gave me a smaller container with half the veggies. Disappointing at $18. Wont order again.

Outstanding Mexican food! I never want to go anywhere else! The food was outstanding and the service was super fast and friendly. My daughter said "this is off the charts!" Honestly, it's the best Mexican food I've ever had!

Beans and rice were delicious. The tacos were good. I wouldn't say great because the fish was a little bit dry but I did enjoy my meal. The wait staff was pleasant and efficient.

I can't eat bean so Mexican food has not been on my priority. I have been to Tonala and loved their flavor for chicken taquitoes. I have tried at least 4 other Mexican restaurant but cannot get over how Tonala top it all. The chicken is very moist, the flavor is there and the crispy is top. Not only the food is good, the customer service here is amazing. We do our monthly eat out at this restaurant. My son learn to eat more Mexican foods because of Tonala.
